Scabs
A Scab is a negative term for a worker called in by an employer to replace striking laborers. using scabs allows a company to continue opperating and avoid having to bargin with the union. Scabs would be present at the strike and any other day, ready to take any job opening. This forced some workers not to strike in fear of loosing their jobs. Loosing their jobs ment that they would not have enough money to support their families and survive. In many situations, the scabs would be young children because they could easilly climb into the factory machines to fix them and their small hands could be a big help in producing textiles which took small fingers to do. Scabs were the replacements of the factory workers.
