Collective Bargaining

Collective Bargaining

Collective bargaining is a process in which workers negotiate as a group with their employers regarding their workplace. They believed that workers acting in a group had more power than a single one acting alone. It was started by the American Federation of Labor (AFL) as one of their ideas. Sometimes, to get the other side to agree with them, the union or employers would organize strikes or a lockout. The AFL relied on economic pressure to get their employers to cave into their demands.
